Sullivan Selected as Influential Woman in Finance

BMF is proud to announce that Karyn M. Sullivan, CPA, has been selected by Crain’s Cleveland as a 2017 Influential Woman in Finance.

In their 2017 inaugural feature, Crain’s selected 15 women from an impressive pool of nominees representing the region’s wide-ranging sector of finance – a group that included bankers, accountants, lawyers, private equity principals, analysts, financial planners, and others.

Karyn joined the firm 25 years ago in a client-facing role as a senior accountant. As BMF and her responsibilities grew, she transitioned to leading our business development and marketing efforts. Her experience as a CPA coupled with her business development expertise earned the respect of our firm’s leadership. Her responsibilities ultimately expanded to include financial and operational aspects of the firm. As a result, in 2015 Karyn was promoted to Chief Operating Officer.

As COO, Karyn is charged with focusing on financial metrics and has been instrumental in redefining operational policies and practices. Through our continued growth, financial reporting has become more critical. Monitoring finances, controlling expenses, forecasting, billing and collections, resource allocation, and staff productivity are critical elements to maintaining and growing a successful and thriving firm. Karyn is the driving force behind these efforts and maintains accountability in the firm by developing and implementing new policies and procedures that consistently move routine efforts forward. She remains highly active in our business development efforts, leading the charge through guidance and oversight of our strategic marketing and growth initiatives.

“Karyn’s dedication and commitment to BMF and our employees is evident every day,” said Rick Fedorovich, managing partner/CEO for BMF. “All at BMF know Karyn to be a professional of the highest integrity and has earned the respect and admiration of her fellow colleagues. She has not only helped to shape the future of the firm but the future of its leadership as well. I believe she is highly deserving of this award.”

A native of Hudson, Ohio, Karyn is a graduate of Ohio University. She is a regular speaker to professional and accounting groups on building strong careers, and frequently mentors young professionals at the firm.
