Meet Our Team: Theodore “Tod” Wagner
April 15, 2019 BMF InsightsMeet Our Team BMF

As part of our ongoing efforts to align the strategic development of our leadership team and ensure sustained long-term growth, Tod Wagner was named Partner-in-Charge of BMF’s Tax Services practice at the beginning of 2019, while continuing his responsibilities as managing partner of our Cleveland office. As tax Partner-in-Charge, Tod sets the vision and direction of the firm’s tax advisory services, ensuring that the firm’s expertise and resources are coordinated to efficiently and proactively meet clients’ needs.

Ever increasing tax complexity and the pace of change present challenges for even the most seasoned tax advisors. Tod’s philosophy extends beyond simple compliance to include a broader consultative approach that blends non-tax financial and business strategies with tax ideas that align clients’ personal and business goals. The most successful engagements and client relationships are those where Tod and his department bring value by going beyond numbers on a form to provide greater insights and undiscovered ideas that connect the dots into a meaningful tax plan.

Tod brings nearly three decades of experience to the firm’s clients, delivering high-level advisory services to middle market businesses and their owners in the areas of corporate and individual tax planning. In working with high-net-worth family groups and family offices, Tod helps clients align their personal, financial, charitable and legacy goals. His expertise also includes estate and succession planning, business valuation and represents clients before taxing authorities.

Along with tax and financial planning, Tod has extensive expertise with mergers and acquisitions including tax diligence, business valuations, negotiation of deal terms and innovative transaction structuring strategies. He often assumes the role of “deal coach,” helping entrepreneurs understand transaction alternatives and navigate the transaction process.

Tod was with Arthur Andersen for nine years and Libman, Goldstine, Kopperman & Wolf, Inc. for more than 13 years before merging with BMF in 2014.

“Being intentional in our efforts provides a great impact in our day-to-day actions. This allows us the ability to move forward with what matters most to the direction and success of our clients and our firm.”
