New Associates
We are excited to announce and welcome the following additions to our professional staff.
- John Burgett, CPA, joins our Tax Services group as a Senior Manager specializing in State and Local Tax. John brings more than 10 years of tax management experience from Big 4, national and regional accounting firms. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and Finance from The University of Toledo, and his Master of Science in Accountancy from The University of Akron.
- Derek Kaufman, CPA, joins us as a Senior Accountant in our Business Advisory Services practice. Derek brings over three years of experience from a similar role at a local CPA firm. In his spare time, Derek enjoys tinkering with old cars, shooting sporting clays and spending time with his wife and two sons on their farm. We are excited to have him join #teamBMF. Welcome, Derek!
- Mike McMullen, CPA, joins our Transaction Advisory Services practices as a Staff Analyst. Mike earned his undergrad and master’s degree from The University of Akron and spent the last two years at a Top 10 public accounting firm in a similar role. A resident of Chicago, Mike enjoys watching and playing sports and cheering on The Buffalo Bills. Welcome, Mike!
- Parker Mitchell joins us as a Staff Accountant in our Audit department, after recently graduating from The University of Dayton. He resides in Brecksville with his family and cat, Mew. Parker enjoys skateboarding, listening to music and cheering on the Cleveland Browns. He is excited to get to know #teamBMF better and absorb our institutional knowledge. Welcome, Parker!
- Jenna Wenzinger joins us as a Staff Accountant in our Audit department, after recently graduating from The University of Toledo. She currently resides in Medina with her two cats, Ozzie and Bagel. In her free time, she enjoys cheering on the Cleveland Cavaliers, donating her time to animal shelters and spending time with family and friends. She’s looking forward to joining #teamBMF and learning from our great team. Welcome, Jenna!
Staff & Community Updates
Help isn’t only defined in a business context. We encourage our teams to invest in our communities, each other and ourselves. Here are some of the ways we’re enhancing our efforts to support our local charities by continuing our roles as nonprofit agency leaders and investing in our individual growth and development.
- Dakota Dunwiddie has been accepted as a board member to the Young Accounting Alumni Board (YAAB) of Kent State University. The priorities of the YAAB are to strengthen alumni relationships and help with the department’s outreach to attract more students to the accounting profession.
- Tod Wagner was recognized as one of the 2023 honorees for Board Executive of the Year at the annual Medical Mutual Pillar Award for Community Service.
Leadership Programs
It is with a great sense of pride and enthusiasm that we announce that Betsy Robb has been selected for Torchbearers Akron Class of 2024! Selection into this prestigious leadership program reflects her outstanding abilities, dedication and potential for growth. It also serves as a testament to the high caliber of professionals we have at BMF. Congratulations, Betsy!
